Collective Agreement Tdsb Occasional Teachers

4 Welcome to the Toronto District School Board team. Our people are the backbone of our system. Being part of the TDSB team means joining a talented community of educators and assistants who strive to enrich the lives of all students and help them succeed. Every day, more than 36,000 people work to build a positive learning environment and support our high standards to ensure students remain our top priority. Occasional teachers play a valuable and important role in this regard. Their role of supporting the classroom and working with students, without skipping a cadence, is a real talent and is essential for the continuous training of our students. We are committed to education and you are an integral part of it to achieve it. Members of the Ontario Elementary School Federation (ETFO) voted to adopt centralized collective agreements with the Government of Ontario, the Ontario Public School Boards` Association and the Council of Trustees` Associations: ETFO residents will now work with their respective school authorities to negotiate local collective agreements. 10 Not only are you a member of our local bargaining unit, but you are also a member of the Ontario Teen Federation (OSSTF), an education workers` union that has a proud history of more than ninety years of working for its members and public education in Ontario.

It is part of our responsibility as union representatives to help maintain and defend the collective agreement under which you work. You can find a copy on the OTBU website. I encourage you to familiarize yourself with this document, so that you are aware of your rights and duties as secondary school teachers in TDSB schools. The OTBU is the only organization that can represent you before your employer. They are part of a bargaining unit with a diverse membership. . Collective bargaining is what defines your collective agreement, the document that describes salary, benefits, working conditions, sick leave, leave, protection from arbitrary discipline and much more. Any point that is not considered a „focal point“ can be negotiated at the local level between the ETT and the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). . 5 I encourage you to learn something about TDSB and take an active role in the school you are in.

Remember that your principal and superintendent of education are here to help you and your students. Best wishes for a successful year.
